Army Emergency Relief has been in existence since 1942 and is a vital tool used by Commanders to take care of Soldiers and their Families during times of financial emergencies.

Each year the Army-wide annual AER's fund Campaign is conducted from March 1 through May 15. This year's theme Army Emergency Relief -- Making A Difference" places emphasis on military personnel seeking emergency help through their Military Relief Societies (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corp and Coast Guard) before going elsewhere. Service members and their military identification card Family members can go to any Military base worldwide and obtain emergency assistance from any of the Relief Society located at that Military Installation. All emergency loan assistance is provided interest free.

Since it was established in 1942, AER has assisted more than 3.6 million Soldiers and Family members with more than 1.6 billion dollars in interest free loans, grants and scholarships to children and spouses of active duty and retired Soldiers.

The need for emergency assistance increases every year. Local figures shows the following assistance were provided to Soldiers and family members in loans and grants

2014: $125,124.15

2013: $82,187.00

AER emergency funds not only help to resolve a challenging emergency situation but it also allows for greater peace of mind.

AER provides emergency assistance not only to active duty personnel; it is also available to retired service members and their military ID cards dependents. National Guards and Reserve components on active duty for more than 30 days are also eligible to apply.
