FORT LEE, Va. -- April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month and today Maj. Gen. Stephen R. Lyons, Combined Arms Support Command and Fort Lee commanding general, along with Command Sgt. Maj. Terry E. Parham Sr., Combined Arms Support Command and Fort Lee command sergeant major, signed a proclamation renewing the command's commitment to ending sexual harassment and assault.

"Today, we formally kick-off Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and encourage everyone to use this month to raise their awareness and focus on the events planned by the SHARP team," Lyons said. "We must, as a high performing organization, create the culture of trust and teamwork. Everyone is entitled to reach their full potential and be treated with dignity and respect."

This year celebrates the 11th annual Army observance of April being dedicated Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month. The theme this year is "Not in my squad. Not in our Army. We are trusted professionals."
