Name:

Richard "Rick" Caniglia

Organization where you work:

Army Cell, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense Project Office, Missile Defense Agency (MDA)

Years of service at AMCOM:

1 year

Before working at AMCOM, where did you work?

I worked at the same organization, but as an MDA employee.

What is your job?

We provide force integration and training support. Force integration, often referred to as "DOTMLPF," involves ensuring all efforts produce a ready Warfighter unit. We also specialize in managing New Equipment Training and modernization training, supporting the Army school with replacement training, and supporting Foreign Military Sales cases with their training needs.

What do you like most about your job?

I like the people. I am blessed to work with a high quality group of self-starters. They have proven time and again that they can recognize issues before the issues become problems, and then they can bring people together in success, no matter how complex the task. It is very impressive.

Did you serve in the military? If yes, for how long and what did you do?

I was an Army officer for twenty-five years. I began in the Transportation Corps and moved into Army aviation where I flew and fixed both helicopters and twin-engine fixed wing aircraft.

What are you usually doing when you're not at work?

I stay busy with outdoor activities and photography.

If you could speak directly to the Soldier you support, what would you say?

Look to the front, we've got your back.

What would people be most surprised to learn about you?

I don't speak Italian.

Who are your heroes or who has inspired you? Why?

People who inspire me are those who demonstrate moral courage, honor and integrity when no one is watching. You can find this around you every day if you look for it, and I do. There are people doing the right thing, even when it hurts.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A Soldier--never any doubt.

What AMCOM means to me:

A great group of people our Soldiers can depend on.
