A three-team dodgeball tournament was held on the basketball courts of Forge Fitness here Nov. 17.

The teams, The Gym Warriors, Red Bull and Hasselhoff's Heroes dueled in an elimination-style tournament that claimed the Warriors victorious.

On his victory, team captain Michael DeMaria of the financial management office here said "Our team played like we were on a mission and nothing was standing in our way. ... We played like true Gym Warriors. And, ... someone had to put a stop to the overly confident lieutenant colonel."

The lieutenant colonel DeMaria spoke about is Picatinny Garrison Commander Lt. Col. John P. Stack who, along with Command Sgt. Maj. Rodney Rhoades, led team Red Bull.

Going into the final elimination match it looked as if team Red Bull would be victorious as they had a 5-man-to-1 advantage. DeMaria was the only hope for the Gym Warriors.

With tension rising and all the marbles on the line DeMaria was able to catch ball after ball that was thrown at him which allowed him to bring in a previously eliminated team member to aide in this epic battle.

The Warriors consisted not only of DeMaria but also Dominick Nicolicchia, Chris Rebovich, Mark Trybulski, Bob Stephan and Gerard Strein.

Hasselhoff's Heroes, which yours truly played on, stood no chance of winning whatsoever. The team named after legendary iconic actor David Hasselhoff was embarrassed several times by both the Gym Warriors and Red Bull.

The dozen or so spectators who watched the competition pretty much agreed that Hasselhoff's Heroes were not even worthy of being on the playing field.

Above all, the tournament was held in support of this year's Combined Federal Campaign and was truly entertaining for all who played.

Brian Chase an employee at Forge Fitness said he is entertaining the idea of possibly setting up an after-work dodgeball league if enough interest is generated.

I for one know I will be participating with the little help of some extra practice.
