Army Announces 7th ID Restructure

By Maj. Charlene LaMountain, Office of the Chief of Public AffairsDecember 23, 2014

WASHINGTON (Dec. 23, 2014) -- The Chief of Staff of the Army has directed that the 7th Infantry Division headquarters, located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, add a deployable capability while still maintaining its training and oversight responsibilities for forces at the installation.

This reorganization is the result of increased demand for deployable command and control headquarters caused by the influx of instability in Iraq, Africa and other locations. The complexity of these environments requires readily-available, high-level leadership cadres drawn from divisional headquarters to provide oversight over deployed units and interact with local and international partners.

No deployment for the 7th ID headquarters has been announced.
