G-6 CIO/Information Technology

The CIO/G6 is the only AMCOM G-staff office that has the unique distinction of having two separate missions. This delineation is actually reflected in the organization's name, "CIO/G6". The "CIO" Mission is identified by the Army Regulation 25-1, and the "G6" Mission is tailored in support of the Aviation and Missile Command. By combining those two purviews, its overarching mission is to maximize the readiness of the AMCOM LCMC and, ultimately, the warfighter's posture by delivering collaborative and secure Information Management and Technology (IM&T) business solutions and services. The following three overarching program areas drive its functions: Information Management (IM), Information Assurance (IA), and Information Technology (IT). Information Management encompasses IM&T Governance functions such as Portfolio Management, IT Acquisition Management, IM&T Assessments, and Investment Planning; Enterprise Architecture; Knowledge Management; Service and Process Improvement; Privacy Program; Engineering Data Management; IT Access Management; and Electronic Meeting Systems. The Information Assurance program covers Cyber Security functions related to the integrity, reliability, and security of Information Technology such as IT Systems Vulnerability Assessments, Information Assurance Vulnerability Assessment (IAVA) Compliance, Networthiness, and Certification and Accreditation efforts. Information Technology encompasses functions such as IT Product Lifecycle Management, Quality Assurance, Configuration Management, IT Operations, Collaboration Tools Management, and Online Document Storage. The CIO/G6 offers robust catalogs of reliable and secure information technology services and solutions that stimulate innovation and enable collaboration across the workforce.
