ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala -- The Logistics and Business Development Office attended and exhibited at the 2014 Department of Defense Maintenance Symposium at the Sheraton Hotel in Birmingham, Ala., Nov. 17-20.

This year's theme was "Delivering Agile and Affordable Maintenance Capability."

Nearly 70 vendors from across the U.S. were on hand to answer questions and provide information about the latest maintenance technologies and exchange ideas and solutions with an audience of more than 900 attendees.

Because of the location and a special discount rate, 33 Anniston Army Depot directors and supervisors attended a one-day session of the symposium Nov. 18 to learn about the newest and most innovative maintenance products and applications.

"The Business Development Office attends and exhibits at this event every year," said Carol Funderburg, business management specialist from the LBDO. "It is one of the largest DoD sponsored events. It's very well attended by all of DoD and it has the largest number of vendor exhibits. The symposium was most significant to ANAD this year because it was held within driving distance and ANAD was chosen for the Technical Tour."

On the final day of the symposium, ANAD hosted two groups of attendees for tours.

The Technical Tour provided an opportunity for symposium participants to tour either ANAD or Honda Manufacturers in Lincoln. The depot hosted a group of nearly 45 vendors who toured three locations in the Nichols Industrial Complex and engaged directly with installation subject matter experts. The group included managers from Tobyhanna and Corpus Christi Army Depots and representatives from the AFGE Unions. The tour also included lunch with a special question and answer session.

The ANAD command staff hosted a VIP segment of the technical tour with attendees from the Offices of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Maintenance, Logistics and Material Readiness.

Showcased on the tour were ANAD's Combat Vehicle Repair Facility, Small Arms Repair Facility and Reciprocating Engine facilities.
