Washington D.C. -- VADM Mark Harnitchek, Director of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), today presented a check for $1.4 million to LTG Gustave 'Gus' Perna, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 (Logistics).
During a Pentagon visit, VADM Harnitchek said this check is the result of the first two auctions conducted by DLA's new contract to sell divested Army equipment.
DLA recently partnered with IronPlanet to manage and sell rolling stock surplus assets through auctions for the U.S. Department of Defense. The money received from the auction directly goes to offset the Service Level Bill dollar-for-dollar.
The new contract is one example of how DLA is working to provide the Army with cost saving solutions.
