Fort Benning Holiday Events

FORT BENNING, Ga., (Dec. 3, 2014) -- From Santa Claus to seasonal music, Fort Benning's annual events are aimed to bring out the holiday spirit in everyone.

Tour of Homes

2-6 p.m. Dec. 6

Visit Fort Benning's historical homes and get holiday decoration tips. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. This event is for people ages 14 and older and is open to the public. Maneuver Center of Excellence Band's Holiday Concert

4 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Columbus RiverCenter

Enjoy holiday music during the MCoE Band's annual holiday concert. Admission is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets will be available at the RiverCenter box office. The event is open to the public.

Trees for Troops

10:30 a.m. Dec. 10 at Wetherby Field

Active-duty Soldiers and their Families are able to obtain one free tree from this annual event. The trees are donated by Christmas tree growers. Guests must have a military ID card in order to get a tree. Supplies are first-come, first-served, with approximately 800 trees to be distributed.

Airborne Tower Lighting

3-7 p.m. Dec. 12 at Eubanks Field

Santa Claus will also make an appearance and drop in during the ceremony, which is hosted by the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Santa, accompanied by Fort Benning's command exhibition parachute team, the Silver Wings, will arrive on Eubanks Field at approximately 6 p.m. Other activities leading up to Santa's arrival will start at 3 p.m., including opening the 34-foot towers for visitors to test their wings. Music will be provided by the MCoE Band. The public is invited to attend.

Santa at Riverside

5-7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Riverside, the Commanding General's Quarters.

Fort Benning Families will visit with Santa and take part in other activities. Light refreshments will be served.

Bi-city Christmas Parade

10 a.m. Dec. 13 starting at the Dillingham Street Bridge.

Watch bands, including the MCoE band, floats, antique cars and more.
