FORT BENNING, Ga., (Dec. 3, 2014) -- On Dec. 9, the Soldiers, Family members and other members of the Fort Benning community will have an opportunity to see the men and women of World Wrestling Entertainment in action as WWE presents its 12th annual "Tribute to the Troops" at the Columbus Civic Center.

In the tradition of Bob Hope, WWE brings together the best of sports entertainment and pop culture with celebrity appearances and performances from music's most popular acts for our servicemen and servicewomen to honor their commitment and dedication.

"For 12 consecutive years, WWE has been entertaining American military personnel both overseas and domestically as a way to thank them for their commitment and sacrifice for our country," said WWE Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Vince McMahon. "Our servicemen and women work tirelessly for our freedom and we are proud to continue the 'Tribute to the Troops' tradition ... "

While this is the 12th "Tribute to the Troops," it will also be a first for WWE. For the first time, troops will also be treated to a taping of "WWE SmackDown" in conjunction with "Tribute to the Troops." With more than 750 original episodes, "SmackDown" is the second longest-running weekly episodic program in U.S. television history, only behind WWE's flagship program, "Monday Night Raw."

Tickets to the show were distributed for free on post and were gone within a matter of hours.

But, for those who don't have a ticket, select WWE superstars will be on post Dec. 10 to spend time with Soldiers and their Families as a way of giving thanks.
