Contract Specialist, 410th Contracting Support Brigade Regional Contracting Office -- Miami

Describe your position: I serve as contract specialist performing all aspects of both pre-award and post-award contracting for both simplified and complex requirements in support of U.S. Southern Command.

Describe your background: I hold a master's in management from Troy University. Prior to working in contracting I was enlisted in the Air Force for four years. I began my contracting career in 2006 at the Air Force's 509th Contracting Office, Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, performing simplified acquisitions. I then relocated to Florida and worked at the Office of Cuba Broadcasting for four years working primarily task and delivery orders. I then took a position at the Regional Contracting Office-Miami in 2013 where I've been working both simplified and complex requirements.

Tell us more: I'm a native of Live Oak, Florida, and currently reside in Davie, Florida. I'm married and have a 2-year-old son. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering at my church in various ministries and attending sporting events.

How does your job support the Soldier: SOUTHCOM relies on contracted support to sustain its daily operations as well as its deployed forces. My job ensures Soldiers, airmen, seamen and Marines have what they need to perform full spectrum operations within the area of operations. Without these required supplies and services SOUTHCOM would not be able to accomplish their mission.
