FORT EUSTIS, Va. -- With the Army's continuous drive to become increasingly competitive through retaining and developing the most competent and qualified officers, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command is offering officers another opportunity for advanced education.

The Maj. Gen. (Ret.) James M. Wright Masters in Business Administration Program offers select Army officers the unique opportunity to receive an advanced degree from the College of William and Mary's Raymond A. Mason School of Business, Williamsburg, Va.

"The College of William & Mary MBA instills the knowledge and skills needed to develop innovative and agile leaders," said Sean Oatmeyer, program manager of the Maj. Gen. (Ret.) James M. Wright Masters in Business Administration Program.

Each year, the program offers 10 Army officers an advanced education opportunity from a nationally ranked college. Graduating from the program allows the officers to use their talent in key positions at strategic levels within the Army.

"Bottom line, this program is right in line with the Chief of Staff of the Army's guidance for leader development," said Capt. Zach Bock, a recent graduate of the program. "It teaches officers how to think in-depth, and not only provides an executive mentorship program, but also provides direct communication with the professors themselves, creating a one-on-one learning experience."

"They Army is doing it right with this program; they are identifying talent, and they are allowing that talent to further their education in order to continue on and better serve the Army," Bock said.

Following a 14-month resident program at the College of William & Mary, selected officers will walk away with an MBA, allowing further advancement professionally and personally.

Active-duty captains from year groups 2007 through 2010 and majors with no more than 18 months time in grade of selective branches are encouraged to apply for this very selective program.

Each graduate will then serve in a two-year follow-on broadening assignment at U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command headquarters, TRADOC's Army Capabilities Integration Center or Combined Arms Support Command.

All personnel interested must apply to the College of W & M by Jan. 9. Please refer to Military Personnel Message No. 14-247 and Sean Oatmeyer at sean.p.oatmeyer.civ@mail.mil for detailed information on requirements and prerequisites.
