Army Identifies Aviation Brigade to Inactivate

By Office of the Chief of Public AffairsNovember 20, 2014

The Department of the Army has announced the inactivation of the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, based on the need to organize aviation assets to best support operational requirements under significant fiscal constraints.

The Army made the decision to inactivate the 159th CAB - one of two CABs in the 101st Airborne Division. The 101st CAB, also stationed at Fort Campbell, will continue to support operational and training requirements of the 101st Airborne Division and its subordinate units.

The installation will lose approximately 2,400 soldiers as a result of the inactivation. This effort is scheduled to be completed by the end of fiscal year 2015.
