FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- The U.S. Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization (SATMO) hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Defense of the nation of Tajikistan.

The Tajik delegation, led by Advisor to the Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Latif Fayziev, visited not only with SATMO, but also with a number of organizations at Fort Bragg.

While Tajikistan does not currently have any training cases with SATMO, the unique training it offers to approved international partners takes place in the host nation and is tailored to that country's needs. This "security assistance" makes for an effective means of developing interoperability with the U.S. military and builds partner capacity, which is key to the Army's "Prevent, Shape and Win" strategy.

SATMO's training spans a wide-range of specialties and is not restricted to just equipment or systems, but includes everything from Warrior Leader Training to preparation for U.S. Special Forces training.

While at SATMO, the Tajik delegation received a briefing from the SATMO command team. Following the briefing, the SATMO team and the Tajiks exchanged gifts. The Tajiks presented Col. Andy Boston, the SATMO Commander, with a traditional headdress known as a toqi, which Col. Boston accepted on behalf of the SATMO team.

Later, the Tajiks witnessed parachute training at the Advanced Airborne School, as well as Expert Infantryman Badge training with the 82nd Airborne Division. The visit concluded with a luncheon where the Tajiks met with Soldiers from the 96th Civil Affairs Battalion.

As the visit concluded, Maj. Gen. Fayziev thanked the men and women of Fort Bragg for their hospitality.
