FORT SILL, Okla.- For Soldiers and their Families reporting to a new unit and installation can be a daunting process. Knowing where to report to, where the housing office is, or what school will their child go to are some of the questions that need to be answered.

The U.S. Army has a sponsorship program in place that assigns a sponsor to every new Soldier arriving to their new unit. This allows the Soldiers and their Families a much smoother transition and a solid piece of mind about their new home.

The 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade held their monthly Brigade Newcomers Brief on the 7th of November, this brief allows the Commander, Command Sgt. Maj. and their staff to welcome and brief their new Soldiers to the brigade. This month the brigade recognized their first "Brigade Sponsor of the Month".

"The intent is to formally recognize these outstanding sponsors and the work they are doing to allow these new Soldiers a smooth transition into this unit and Fort Sill," said the Human Resources Officer, 31st ADA Brigade, Capt. Jerame Johnson.

The sponsors were selected based off of a survey that the new Soldiers filled out. This survey allows the brigade to adjust their newcomer brief and sponsorship program accordingly to meet the needs of their new Solders and their Families.

"We hope that the Soldiers continue to give us quality feedback so we can provide them the tools they need to transition smoothly, and continue to recognize Soldiers who are truly displaying selfless service and exceptional sponsorship traits" said Johnson.

Soldier and Family Readiness are at the forefront of the 31st ADA Brigade Command Team, and they are committed to providing support to their Soldiers and their Families
