ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Army Contracting Command Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Theodore C. Harrison III and Command Sgt. Maj. David M. Puig, ACC command sergeant major, visited the Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, Oct. 23-24 to observe training for the Contingency Contracting Administration Services mission readiness exercise.
George Holland, chief, Contract Administration Division, ACC Contracting Operations, was also at RIA, between Oct. 20-31, training the Soldiers and civilians who will support the CCAS mission. ACC, through its subordinate Expeditionary Contracting Command, assumed the mission in June.
ACC has assumed the contract administration support mission from the Defense Contract Management Agency for installation and logistic support contracts in Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
During a town hall on Oct. 23, Harrison and Puig told the Soldiers and civilians supporting this mission that it is an opportune time in which to display the importance of ACC -- and contracting in general -- to higher levels in the Army and Department of Defense.
Harrison also asked that the crowd, being the first to deploy in support of this mission, take note on how training can be improved to prepare future teams.
"You are the first ones being trained and the first ones deploying for this mission," said Harrison. "We need feedback to develop good training. What better cadre to improve it than you?"
