The military deputy of the Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, spoke to a group of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ROTC cadets Oct. 24 about Army life.

Col. Michael J. Rogers met with 25 students from the Tar Heel Battalion to discuss the Army, career planning and leadership. According to Rogers, the group consisted of all grade levels.

"It was a phenomenal experience," he said. "They asked a lot of questions about acquisition, contracting, the Medical Corps and the Army in general. I also told my story about how I was once in their shoes as an ROTC cadet."

Rogers is a graduate of UNC, but at the time of his graduation there wasn't a dedicated ROTC program and he received his ROTC commission from Duke University in 1986.

Lt. Col. Daniel L. Knott, UNC's professor of military science, thanked Rogers "for taking your time to share your insight and knowledge with the future leaders."
