Joseph G. Guijarro
Logistics management specialist, 410th Contracting Support Brigade
Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas
Describe your current position:
I am a logistics management specialist for the 410th Contracting Support Brigade. I have been with the unit since 2009. I provide logistics support for Soldiers in the Army South area of operations.
Describe your professional/education background:
I began my career in the U.S. Marines in 1994 as a supply administration and operations specialist, then I got smart and joined the Army in 1998 as a unit supply specialist. In 2005 my wife and I decided to get out of the military. I missed serving so in 2006 I joined the Air Force Reserve as a health services management airmen. I graduated from the University of Phoenix with a bachelor's in Business Management and now I'm half way through my master's degree in leadership.
Tell us more:
I call Loma Linda, California, home but reside in San Antonio with my wife and three teenage boys. We have three cats and a puppy. In my spare time I join my boys in cross-country running and taking pictures. This year I started teaching Sunday school at the 1st-3rd grade class levels and have re-dedicated my life to God.
How does your job support the Soldier?
While at the 410th CSB I have served with three different unit supply noncommissioned officers; two have since retired. As a team, we support the Soldier by coordinating transportation and maintaining weapons. I am also a Government Purchase Card holder, General Fund Enterprise Business System power user, armorer and have many more additional roles. If the Soldiers are training, I like to jump right in and get dirty to include joining them at the range and Nuclear, Biological and Chemical confidence chamber.
