Spotlight on … Col. Martin A. Zybura, Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Contracting Command

Describe your current position.

The Chief of Staff is the principal assistant to the commanding general for planning, coordinating, directing, supervising and training of the more than 200 headquarters staff members, and coordinates support and oversight of two one-star subordinate commands and five subordinate contracting centers.

Describe your professional background.

I started in the Army as a field artillery officer serving in multiple positions in field artillery battalions and brigades. Since 1999 I have served as an acquisition officer. Most of my acquisition assignments have been in contracting (411th Contracting Support Brigade, 408th CSB and the 413th CSB) but I have also had the opportunity to serve as a product manager, in an Army field support brigade and in a science and technology position. I enjoy being part of the Army Acquisition Corps and ensuring our Soldiers get the equipment and services they need to accomplish their mission.

Tell us more.

I am originally from New Jersey and my accent has faded with time in the Army. My wife, Sok Hui and I have been married for 23 years. We have two children. Our son Joseph is in 7th Grade and our daughter Joanna is a junior in High School. I enjoy spending time with my family doing outdoor activities. I also enjoy sports and taking in a good college or pro football game.

How does your job support the Soldier?

Through the actions of the staff, my job supports the military and civilian members of the ACC enabling them to directly support Soldiers with over 70 percent of Army contracting dollars worldwide.
