FORT BENNING, Ga., (Oct. 22, 2014) -- Soldiers, Family members and civilians are invited to participate in the Fort Benning Facebook Town Hall from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22.
Hosted by the garrison commander, the town hall will focus on topics such as the new Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Benning's role in Operation United Assistance, life on Benning, relocation, Family programs and schools.
Representatives from more than 60 agencies and programs on post, such as the Battle Buddy Resource Center, Directorate of Emergency Services and more, will be available to answer questions. Tiffani Migliore, garrison command management analyst, said the online forums are held twice a year. An average of 14,000 people have attended each town hall since its inception in January 2011.
"The days of face-to-face town halls are becoming more of an exception," she said. "People with valid questions and concerns may have competing demands that prevent them from attending a town hall meeting. Social media is convenient, and you can connect and participate from anywhere in the world."
Migliore said the town hall is open for anyone to ask questions related to Fort Benning.
To attend the town hall, visit www.facebook.com/FortBenningGarrison. To post a comment or question, participants must select the "like" option at the top of the page.
"With Facebook, we eliminate the requirement for people to leave their homes, get child care or sit in an auditorium," Migliore said. "This process speeds things up by allowing us to have a two-way conversation."
