USAG Ansbach to rehearse increased force protection posture

By U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach Public AffairsOctober 16, 2014

ANSBACH, Germany (Oct. 16, 2014) -- Across the U.S. European Command, including U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach and all its installations, the force protection condition will raise today, Oct. 16 through Oct. 17.

The change in the force protection condition will impact USAG Ansbach personnel and family members. There will be heightened security at access control points and possible closures of certain ACPs and roads.

Community members traveling between installations or within an installation should plan for extra time to get to their destinations. Community members may see Soldiers in full combat gear patrolling the garrison's installations.

In addition to this, community members may be asked to provide identification in order to enter certain buildings or receive services. Soldiers, Family members, civilian and local national employees, veterans and retirees are reminded to oblige security personnel in performance of their security procedures.

The elevated posture is not in response to a specific threat, but is a result of force protection concerns throughout the EUCOM area of responsibility. To learn more, visit www.eucom.mil/media-library/article/27844/eucom-to-rehearse-increased-fp-condition.

The garrison will inform its host nation neighbors of the intent of U.S. Forces in Europe to conduct a raised force protection posture.

The garrison leadership requests everyone's patience over the next two days while the garrison's force protection posture increases and enhanced security measures are implemented. The garrison is training and rehearsing its critical responsibilities to protect the Soldiers, civilians and Families within the Ansbach and Illesheim communities.

Stay tuned to the garrison's official outlets, including www.ansbach.army.mil, http://teamansbach.com/, Facebook at www.facebook.com/usag.ansbach.7, and AFN radio for more information.
