Maj. Gen. Darrell K. Williams joins 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) from Headquarters, U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) where he served as Deputy Chief of Staff. A native of West Palm Beach, Fla. Maj. Gen. Williams was commissioned into the Army Quartermaster Corps at Hampton Institute, Hampton, Va. in 1983. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate and also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. His post graduate education includes: Masters degree in Military Arts and Sciences from the School of Advanced Military Studies, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Masters degree in National Security and Strategic Studies (Distinguished Graduate) from the National War College, Fort McNair, Washington D.C.; and Masters degree in Business Management (Logistics) from the Pennsylvania State University, State College, Pa.

Maj. Gen. Williams has commanded logistics units at the company, battalion, brigade, and enterprise levels and has served in key staff positions at the tactical, operational/joint and strategic levels. His most recent assignments include: Commander, Defense Logistics Agency, Land and Maritime, Columbus, Ohio; Headquarters, United States Pacific Command (USPACOM), Hawaii, where he served as Director of Logistics, Engineering and Security Assistance, J4; Executive Officer to the Army Deputy Chief of Staff, G4 (Logistics) and Brigade Commander, 3d Sustainment Brigade, Fort Stewart, Ga.

His assignments include: Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Lee, Va.; Fort Stewart, Ga.; Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; Pentagon, Washington D.C.; Defense Supply Center Columbus, Ohio; Korea, Germany and Hawaii. He has also deployed to Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian and to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.

Maj. Gen. Williams' awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge and Parachute Rigger Badge.

Maj. Gen. Williams is married to the former Myra Richardson and they have two children, Jocelyn and Colin.
