A UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter takes off outside a mock training city at Ft. Irwin, Calif. Oct. 13. The Blackhawk was used to transport Soldiers from 2nd "Lancers" Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division's White Platoon to a fictitious Iraqi city where they conducted cordon and search operations.

Joseph Ryan Dunbar, a tanker with Delta Company, 2nd "Lancers" Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, runs to take cover behind a humvee on the streets of Medina Jabal, as his platoon sergeant, Rome City In. native, Staff Sgt. Gambit Letsero Olvera, lays down suppressive fire while concealed behind a wall.  The "battle" was part of a training exercise held at Ft. Irwin, Calif. prior to the brigade's next deployment.
