PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. -- The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center awarded its 10,000th Associate of Arts degree in Foreign Language here on June 5. DLIFLC provides language training to students from all branches of the U.S. military and their family members.
The Presidio of Monterey Education Center staff was recognized Sept. 19 during the POM Garrison Awards Ceremony for their significant contributions toward this milestone. Education Center counseling and testing services have been instrumental in service members and family members earning language degrees since 2002, when DLIFLC became degree granting. Through the POM Education Center's National Testing Center partnership with Brandman University, POM Service members took more than 1,500 college proficiency tests in Fiscal Year 2014, resulting in credits and degrees earned, significant time savings for service members and tuition assistance cost avoidance for the military services.
