CAMP ZAMA, Japan (Sept. 30, 2014) -- Zama American High School kicked off their Homecoming weekend on Sept. 25 with a pep rally at the ZAHS Gym followed by a parade around Camp Zama installation and a Powder-Puff football game at the ZAHS Football Field, here.

Gabrielle Marchan, senior ZAHS, said that Homecoming week is sort of a 'coming home' by introducing other people, like new students and visitors, to our home (ZAHS).

The Homecoming football game was held on Sept. 26 at the ZAHS Football Field where the ZAHS Trojans took on Misawa. The Homecoming crowing ceremony was held during half-time.

Kylar Merrell, the 2014 ZAHS Homecoming King, said that Homecoming is a way of bringing everybody in the school together.

"It's a way we all connect," said Merrell, "everybody bonds over a homecoming."

Marchan, who was crowned the 2014 ZAHS Homecoming Queen during the half-time ceremony, said that Homecoming week is a chance to really enjoy yourself.

"I encourage future queens to go for it," said Marchan, "there is nothing you can lose from it," continued Marchan.

Homecoming week ended with a dance on Sept. 27 inside the ZAHS cafeteria.

Lisa Steiner, president of the ZAHS Student Body, stated that the most rewarding part of Homecoming week, was the fact that there was full participation from the ZAHS student body.
