"Weight creep" caught up to you? Need that extra motivation to stay fit in preparation for the holiday months? Do you want to avoid the need for a New Year's Resolution and start getting fit now? If so, Jump into Shape is just what you're looking for!

Jump into Shape addresses the physical and environmental demands faced by active duty members, Department of Defense civilians, retired members, base contractors, reservists and beneficiaries that hinders their ability to improve health and well-being. It is a six-week healthy lifestyle initiative developed by the Womack Nutrition Care Division.

We have good news! Our Jump into Shape Wellness Initiative runs three times during the 2014 year.

If you missed out on our first two programs, just join us in October. If you need more than six weeks of motivation, keep joining the program!

The program's primary intent is to encourage healthy lifestyle practices during the fall and winter months by increasing fruits, vegetables, and water consumption and exercising at least 45 minutes four to five times a week. Members are encouraged to participate in weigh-ins, body fat analysis, nutrition classes, and to record food and water consumption and fitness in a weekly log. Prizes will be awarded to the individual with the highest number of points earned throughout the program.

There is more good news! This time we are offering a couch to 5K program along with Jump Into Shape.

Since February 2014, 40 participants made it through our first and second rounds of the Jump into Shape Program. 170 pounds and 65 inches were lost overall. Also, a decrease in body mass index (BMI) from the start of the program moved the population from obese to a healthier weight range.

Registration for Jump into Shape 2 begins the Oct. 1. Come join us. Week 1 will begin on the Oct. 6 and this program goes until the Nov. 14. Classes are held in the Nutrition Classroom, ground floor of Womack Army Medical Center. No referral needed.
