GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- Members of the U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria community paused to reflect on the 13th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks during a Patriot Day ceremony at the 172nd Infantry Brigade Memorial on Tower Barracks, Sept. 11.

Col. Zane Jones, commander, 18th Military Police Brigade, addressed the more than 50 people in attendance.

"As we remember those we lost that day … we are strengthened … to a steely resolve to never let this happen again, and let the world know we will not be defined by evil."

Jones, along with Chaplain (Col.) Mark Roeder, USAG Bavaria garrison chaplain, and Chris Luper and Donald Cannon, both with Veterans of Foreign Wars "Tower" Post 10692, laid wreaths at the memorial.

Following a moment of silence, Sgt. Brooke Guidebeck, a human resources sergeant with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, USAG Bavaria, played taps to close the ceremony.
