The Motorcycle Safety Foundation recently recognized the U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center for outstanding contributions toward motorcycle safety. Motorcycle Safety Foundation President Tim Buche said the awards are one way to recognize those "dedicated, hard-working and often unsung champions" of rider education and training. "Whether the award recognizes an individual or an organization, behind it all you'll find people devoted to the common goal of motorcyclist safety," he said.
Director of Army safety Brig. Gen. Bill Forrester and Army Traffic Safety Manager Earnest W. Eakins accepted the awards at the Atlanta Military Motorcycle Rally for "Outstanding Motorcycle Safety Support."
The U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center was commended for support of the U.S. Army worldwide motorcycle safety program and coordinating the joint efforts with the Navy in the development of the Military Sportbike Rider Course.
Every year, based on nominations from the training community, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation recognizes individuals, groups, businesses, military services and state programs for outstanding contributions to motorcycle safety in the United States. Motorcycle Safety Foundation award nominees are carefully reviewed and judged within their respective categories by a panel of motorcycle safety professionals.
"As the demands upon the rider education community grow, Motorcycle Safety Foundation desires to acknowledge those outstanding contributors whose accomplishments exemplify the spirit and intent of rider education," Buche said.
Since 1973, Motorcycle Safety Foundation has set internationally-recognized standards that promote the safety of motorcyclists with rider education courses, operator licensing tests and public information programs. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation Awards Program is one way the safety community is able to recognize outstanding accomplishment.
