SANA'A, Yemen - Recently three Combat Camera service members from the Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa paid a visit to the capital of Yemen to teach 13 Yemeni Coast Guardsmen the basics of their work.

The seven-day training course covered the basics of still photography and videography, including composition, framing and exposure control techniques.

"The language barrier was a little difficult at first, but we were able to adapt and overcome," said U.S. Navy Mass Communications Chief (select) Paul Del Signore. "The students really warmed up when we started teaching videography."

Students used the new techniques in a practical application exercise at Wadi Dhar, a valley that includes spectacular rock formations as well as the rock palace in Dar al Hajar.

"We had the full support of the Minister of the Coast Guard, who spoke at both the opening and closing of the course," said U.S. Air Force Capt. Michael Rothe, officer in charge of CJTF-HOA Combat Camera. "We received positive feedback from the students, and hope to return to Yemen for future training with our host nation partners."
The Yemen Coast Guard will use their new knowledge to help them with brochures and other public relations products
