FORT BENNING, Ga., (Aug. 27, 2014) -- As the dog days of summer wind down and fall approaches, that can mean only one thing -- football is approaching.
And for football fans needing their fix, NFL football can be seen live and in person with a less than two-hour drive to Atlanta.
The Atlanta Falcons are set for another season of NFL football at the Georgia Dome, with the season opener set for 1 p.m. Sept. 7 against the Falcons' NFC South rivals, the New Orleans Saints.
The Falcons struggled in 2013, finishing 4-12 to snap a streak of six consecutive winning seasons.
Several key injuries played a factor in the team's downfall, and with the team at mostly full strength heading into 2014, expectations are high for a playoff run.
In addition to the Saints, the Falcons will also play host to fellow NFC South teams Tampa Bay and Carolina, as well as the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tickets for the Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Arizona and Carolina games start at $62.85, while tickets for the New Orleans and Chicago games start at $73.05. Tickets for the Pittsburgh game start at $83.25.
Also, Fort Benning's Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program is planning a trip to see the Falcons take on the Browns Nov. 23. BOSS will release more details on that trip, including the cost, at a later date.
