Fort Belvoir, Va. (Aug 21, 2014) - There was very little waiting for those who used the DMV 2 Go services Friday and Saturday at Fort Belvoir. The mobile vehicle makes quarterly trips to the post and provides a one-stop shop for those looking to skip the lines.
Lori Wallace, a military spouse, who sold her car to her 22-year-old son, Cody Wallace, said it was her first time using the service. She loved the convenience, which allowed Cody to quickly change the title and registration for his new car.
That convenience is a benefit that shouldn't go to waste, said Clay Latiolais, another military spouse who was also registering a vehicle.
He no longer has to wait a long time for his number to be called -- something that is valuable to him as a stay-at-home dad of a young child, he said. It's a service he hopes stays around.
"Sometimes we don't have time to get out to the local DMVs and they are very congested," Latiolais said. "We spent three hours, one month ago, trying to get my son's license. So having it here makes it way more convenient for us. It's close to home (and) parking's available."
Since it's one of the benefits the installation provides the Belvoir community and its Families, he said make sure to use those services.
"Just like AAFES and everything else … if you have this -- make use of it," Latiolais said. "It's given to you. If they are here to support us, we are here to support them."
Services included applying for or renewing an ID card or driver's license, getting a hunting or fishing license, ordering disabled parking placards or plates, applying for a veteran ID card, updating a voter registration address, obtaining a copy of your driving record, as well as getting a vehicle title, license plate, decal and transcripts.
