AMC to showcase improvements in logistics and acquisition at AUSA annual meeting

The U.S. Army Materiel Command will showcase a wide variety of advancements and emerging technologies in logistics and acquisition at the Association of the U.S. Army's annual meeting and exposition at the Washington Convention Center Oct. 6-8.

Located in exhibit booth 1524, AMC will feature new and exciting technologies, including the Rhino, a new counter-IED device; RIVET, the Robotic Systems Simulation Testbed; advances in fuel cell and rechargeable batteries; improvements in large volume/quick depot responses to warfighter requirements; hand-held devices that improve Soldier communication capabilities; TALON robot; Tactical Digital Holographic images; and a virtual reality ride on the M1 Abrams.

AMC will also showcase its six winners of the Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing and the first DOD recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center.

<u>AMC participation in panel discussions</u>

"Enterprise Logistics"

Gen. Benjamin Griffin, AMC's commanding general, will lead other Army and defense industry leaders in a discussion on advancements in Army logistics on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. in room 150 A. Lt. Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, AMC's deputy commanding general and Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey Mellinger, AMC's command sergeant major, will also provide their expertise on the panel. Immediately following the panel, Griffin will be available to meet with members of the media in room 140 B.

"Busting the Low-Tech Myth"

Mr. Jeffery P. Parsons, executive director, Army Contracting Command, will participate in the panel on "Busting the Low-Tech Myth: Army Science and Technology Support to the Full Spectrum Operations" on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. in room 157 A and B.

<u>AMC presentation at the U.S. Army's Warrior's Corner</u>

AMC will highlight its newest major subordinate command, the Army Contracting Command, in the Warrior's Corner on Monday, Oct. 6, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
