FORT IRWIN, Calif. -- Fort Irwin's Middle School and Teen Center received a grant of $2,451 to assist an anti-bullying campaign during a check presentation here, July 22.

The funds came from the Military and Civilian Spouses Club and were contributed to support "The Movement" -- an anti-bullying initiative created by Fort Irwin United States Army Garrison. The money will go to the purchase of T-shirts and pencils promoting the campaign, said William Paul, director of MST. Kelly Furtick, president of MCSC here, presented the check.

The MST program has hosted dances, skits, and public service announcements that promote anti-bullying themes, said Paul. The MST Center day-to-day activities allow youth to improve on self-esteem, skills and competencies.

The MST is open after school, on Saturdays, and during the summer at building 1351 on Meuse Argonne Street. Children can be registered at Parent Central Services in building 109 in the Reception Campus on Langford Lake Road; call 380-2257 or 2270 for more information.

The MCSC provides grants and scholarships every year through an application process and has awarded approximately $96,000 for its 2014 spring campaign, Furtick said. The fall season application is available at www.mcscftirwin.org.
