New mandatory training requirement

The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Diversity and Leadership has developed mandatory Equal Employment Opportunity Anti-Harassment and NoFEAR training for civilian employees and military/civilian supervisors of civilian employees.

According to Connie Fox-Samson, Army Contracting Command Equal Employment Opportunity director, the training is in response to a Secretary of the Army directive to ensure a workplace environment free from discrimination and harassment. The training must be completed by Sept. 30 and annually thereafter.

"This training contains new information and is a good effort by the Army to ensure all employees and supervisors are operating from the same rule set," said Fox-Samson. "The bottom line is that we are all responsible for building a diverse and inclusive culture in which we treat each other with dignity and respect."

Fox-Samson said the ACC Deputy Chief of Staff, Human Capital G-1 has built the courses in the Total Employee Development website for registration, completion certificates, and tracking for higher headquarters. Supervisors need only complete the supervisory course. Employees who have completed compliant NoFEAR and prevention of sexual harassment courses prior to the release of this training are grandfathered for fiscal year 2014 only.
