KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany ‐ The 903rd Contingency Contracting Battalion welcomed its new commander, Lt. Col. Daryl (Gwen) Devera-Waden during a change of command ceremony here June 20.

Lt. Col. Lynda Royse relinquished command of the 903rd CCBn to Devera-Waden after three years of continuous leadership with the contingency contracting battalion.

Devera-Waden will be dual-hatted as the commander of the 903rd CCBn and director of the 409th CSB's Theater Contracting Center.

"I'm really honored and humbled to be taking this command," said Devera-Waden. "We have a lot of hard work ahead of us, but I know this team of professionals will excel in enabling success and live up to the motto: Ready and Sure."

Col. William Baily, 409th CSB commander, said, "To have the opportunity to lead a battalion means you are at the top of your game, and the 903rd CCBn has an exceptional mission. It is the largest contracting battalion in the Expeditionary Contracting Command, and with the theater contracting center, does the majority of the contracting workload for the 409th CSB." Bailey presided over the ceremony.

During her remarks, Royse thanked her contracting family and remembered some of the unit's milestones and achievements.

"It happened in a blink," Royse said. "Together, we have supported three combatant commands, implemented the 3-in-1 tool, as well as deployed Soldiers and civilians on a number of missions and exercises. I'm happy to have had the opportunity to lead this command; I couldn't have done it without you."

Royse's next assignment will be at the Pentagon where she will be working as part of the Joint Staff.
