Department of the Army Headquarters G-3/5/7 Division Chief recognized for Excellence in Big Data

ARLINGTON, Va. (June 24, 2014) -- Lt. Col. Promotable (P) Bobby Saxon, USA, Division Chief, G-3/5/7 DAMO-FME and Enterprise Management Decision Support (EMDS) system Program Manager, was recognized for the 2014 GOVTek GTRA Executive Technology Award for Excellence in Big Data, sponsored by the Government Technology Research Alliance, at a gala awards ceremony held at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia.

This is the 3rd annual GOVTek GTRA Executive Technology Award for government and public sector solutions and innovations. The award recognizes government and industry, IT leaders whose vision, innovation and remarkable accomplishments have improved efficiency, the delivery of government services, citizen engagement, information sharing, and national security.

The EMDS enterprise, developed and managed by the Army's Deputy Chief of Staff G-3/5/7, provides Army leaders with access to critical disparate (classified and unclassified) readiness and resourcing information retrieved in near real-time from multiple databases to a single access point.

Lt. Col. Saxon joins an elite group of government (federal, state, local), military, and industry IT solution providers.

Lt. Col. Saxon's military career spans over 30 years with all components of the Army. Lt. Col. Saxon has overseen the EMDS project since early 2011. In the private sector, he founded and operated a Customer Relationship Management software and consulting business for 11 years.
