TOBYHANNA ARMY DEPOT, Pa. -- Christine Bennett-Thorne, a fabric worker here, uses a cutting table to cut materiel to meet workload requirements.
Bennett-Thorne and other members of Tobyhanna's Equipage Branch manufacture, repair and modify tarpaulins, carrying cases, protective covers and support equipment for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) equipment using hot air welding and industrial sewing.
Their duties include recovering, relining and replacing hardware, fittings, trimmings and rubber on a variety of items. Employees also fabricate custom stamps using a computerized photopolymer process, plus install insulating material, floors, and electro-magnetic interference, radio frequency interference and environmental seals and gaskets in C4ISR equipment.
The branch is part of the depot's Systems Integration and Support Directorate.
