Mr. Taylor retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service at the rank of Colonel in July 2010. His military assignments included Senior Army Advisor for the States of Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Carolina; Professor of Military Science Michigan State University; Director, Commander's Initiative Group, NORAD and U.S. Northern Command; Director of Operations, Task Force Eagle; Director of Operations, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment; Strategic Planner, HQDA G/3/5/7; Troop Commander, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment; Company Commander, 177th Armored Brigade; Operations Officer, 2nd Brigade 24th Infantry Division; and Platoon Leader, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment.
Mr. Taylor's civilian education includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Pre-Law from the Citadel and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. His military education includes Infantry Officer Basic Course, Armor Officer Advanced Course, Airborne Course, Ranger Course, Space Fundamentals Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course and the Air War College.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Liberation Medal, NATO Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Overseas Medal, Outstanding Military Volunteer Award, Parachutist Badge, Air Force Master Space Badge, Ranger Tab, and Civilian Commander's Award.
Mr. Taylor is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps. He is certified as a Chief Information Officer and is Level III-certified in Program Management.
