Kabul, Afghanistan- Soldiers currently stationed at the New Kabul Compound in Afghanistan, participated in the traditional cake cutting during the Army's 239th Birthday ceremony, June 14, 2014.

Among the Soldiers participating in the ceremony were US Col. Robert Morschauser, VXIII Airborne Corps and US Forces-Afghanistan Chief of Staff, Sgt. 1st Class John G. Slocum, a member of the US Army Reserve, currently performing duty at the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan and Pfc. Mark A. Beck, assigned to C Company 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

As we celebrate 239 Years of Our Profession, the Army continues to demonstrate its competence, its commitment, and its character in defense of our nation.
