FORT BENNING, Ga., (June 18, 2014) -- Team B of the 11th Engineer Battalion defeated 14th Combat Support Hospital 16-7 during a Commander's Cup intramural softball game June 16 at Gowdy Field.

The Engineers batted around in the first inning and jumped out to a 7-1 lead and surged ahead 11-1 after two innings. Vincent Wright scored the lone run for 14th CSH during the inning.

"We started off with our bats really good and got on top on runs really quick … you never know when you are going to have a blooper on the field so it's good to get ahead like that," said Gary Adcock, Engineers' assistant coach.

14th CSH had a short-lived comeback in the third inning and earned three runs, but still trailed 15-4.

In the fifth and final inning, the Engineers picked up one run in the top of the inning and 14th CSH scored three runs, but the game was called due to time limit with the Engineers picking up the win, 16-7.

Adcock said the team was fatigued later in the game, but said he tried to keep the team motivated. He said the team would progress as the season went along.

"I only see us getting better," he said.
