Tooele Army Depot (TEAD) hosted the U.S. Air Force Audit Team and HQ's Joint Munitions Command (JMC) Inventory Chief, 2-5 June, to conduct a floor-to-book and book-to-floor testing at Tooele.

28 locations at Tooele were selected to verify assets on record, that they matched what was in location and vice-versa. They also verified that the depot's internal controls were in place for accountability of the U.S. Air Force inventory of conventional ammunition, security procedures and key control protocols were also observed.

With TEAD being the only Joint Munitions Command depot identified for this type of Air Force audit, it was completed within one week.

Results indicated that 100% of the assets in the sample were correct, on record and in location.

Noted in a memorandum dated, 3 June 2014, Fredrick E. Carr, Director, Accounting & Reporting; Carr mentioned that the Air Force reports approximately $26 billion of munitions assets on their Balance Sheet so proper financial reporting of munitions is a large component of the Air Force's Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness efforts. The Army physically possesses 60 percent of all Air Force-owned munitions. "The storage facilities were at TEAD were well organized, well maintained and depot personnel used technology well," Carr said. Carr mentioned that there was complete adherence to all security measures.

The TEAD Ammunition Operations team that participated in this Air Force audit consisted of: Keith Siniscalchi, Bill Smith, Scott Keith, Michael O'Conner and Yvonne Sweeney.
