REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- A U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command officer retired recently with almost 30 years of service.

Col. Fred V. Manzo Jr., SMDC's inspector general, retired during a ceremony at the command's Redstone Arsenal headquarters May 22.

During the ceremony Manzo received the Legion of Merit, an American flag, a certificate of appreciation, a three-star note, and a certificate of retirement and pin.

Manzo retires with 28 years of service.
