JOINT BASE MYER-HENDERSON HALL, Va. (May 21, 2014) -- Some nasty weather may have moved the program inside, but it didn't deter the thousands of audience members from all over the globe from enjoying Twilight Tattoo, a high energy military spectacular featuring Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own."
Audience members and their host, Maj. Gen. William E. Rapp, the Army's Chief Legislative Liaison, viewed the evening's pageant in the cavernous and dry Conmy Hall at JBM-HH. Normally Twilight Tattoo is enjoyed outside on a grassy field, but if the weather turns bad, the show moves inside, just a few yards from its normal outdoors location.
Rapp is directly responsible to the Secretary of the Army regarding legislative affairs, including formulating, coordinating, supervising, and executing the Army's Congressional policy and strategy.
Twilight Tattoo is produced by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington and is an hour-long, live-action military pageant that provides audiences from around the world a glimpse into American history through performances by the U.S. Army Blues, vocalists from the U.S. Army Band Downrange, the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, and the U.S. Army Drill Team.
Twilight Tattoo is performed on Wednesday evenings beginning at 7 p.m. Pre-ceremony entertainment begins at 6:45 p.m. Performances from April 30 through June 25 will be located at Summerall Field at JBM-HH, Arlington, Va. Performances from July 9 through Aug. 20 will be located at Whipple Field, JBM-HH and of course if the weather is bad, it is held indoors at Conmy Hall on JBM-HH.
