Fort Belvoir, Va. (May 15, 2014) - Fort Belvoir hosted a special sporting event Saturday at Specker Field House to celebrate the Mother's Day holiday and provide servicemembers and civilians from several area military installations an opportunity to participate in some friendly competition.

The Mother's Day Invitational Volleyball Tournament, sponsored by the Fort Belvoir Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, drew nearly 100 athletes from Fort Lee, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and a Fredericksburg, Virginia based volleyball organization known as Easy Pass to compete against two Belvoir teams in a one-day double-elimination tournament.

Richard Tatem, Fort Belvoir fitness coordinator, and Ron Valentine, post-level recreational volleyball league director, sponsored the tournament.
