FORT BENNING, Ga., (April 30, 2014) -- Make your rounds and scope out good deals and unique items from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 during Fort Benning's biannual postwide yard sale and flea market.

"Hosting a postwide sale gives (Families) an opportunity to reach a greater market if they choose to sell, but it also gives them a chance to shop and save," said Bridgett Siter, marketing and publicity specialist for Morale, Welfare and Recreation. "Army Families are thrifty Families."

The yard sales will be held in residential post housing areas, while the flea market will be located on Stilwell Field across from the post office on Main Post.

The yard sale limits selling to post residents, but buying is open to the public. In addition, those who are preregistered may rent booths for the flea market. Booths are $15.

"We (will) have hundreds of vendors, including military Families, civilians, businesses, artists, etc.," she said. "Buying is open to all."

Siter said while online registration closed April 29, vendors can still rent space by visiting Outdoor Recreation on Kilgore Street on Main Post until 5 p.m. Thursday.

Tables and chairs for the yard sale can be rented from Outdoor Recreation. For more information call MWR at 706-545-7978.
