GREEN BAY, Wis. (Army News Service, Sept. 16, 2008) -- The Army Reserve and transportation firm Schneider National Inc. entered into a partnership during a ceremony Friday.

Army Reserve Soldiers with a logistics or transportation skill set will now have the opportunity to work for Schneider National after they successfully complete their military occupational training, officials said

"Today we are launching a public-private partnership that is the first of its kind in Wisconsin," said Tim Fliss, executive vice president of human resources for Schneider National. Fliss added the program also provides Warrior Citizens careers near their Reserve units, allowing greater stability in their careers and lives.

"We are talking about great individuals who've been tested under fire who want to be able to do a great job back in civilian life with the confidence they have the support of their employer and they can stay in uniform for their country," said Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, chief, Army Reserve, and commanding general, U.S. Army Reserve Command.

Stultz said employer partnerships with the Army Reserve and companies such as Schneider benefit the Citizen Warrior and the nation, allowing Soldiers to sharpen their skills by working in the same career field as a civilian.

Schneider National was the 15th organization to partner with the Army Reserve. Some of the first include: Inova Health Systems, the American Trucking Associations, Con-way Freight, the Crowley Auto Group and the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department.
