BAUMHOLDER, Germany -- Installation Management Command Europe announced the winners of the 2014 Best Warrior Competition in a ceremony here April 25.

Sgt. Kareem Paschal, U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden, and Spc. Jeromy Sisk, U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach are the Best Warrior Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year.

The Best Warrior Competition, held in Baumholder April 21-25, consisted of a number of warrior tasks and drills including an Army Physical Fitness Test, marksmanship, combatives, an essay and written examination, a 12-mile foot march with combat gear, warrior tasks and drills, day and night land navigation, and an appearance before a board of brigade command sergeants major.

"Soldiering is an ancient profession. It's a skilled profession, and the Best Warrior Competition is a time to put those skills to task and honor your dedication to this noble profession," said Kathleen Y. Marin, Installation Management Command Europe region director.

"Your skills have not only been honed in training, they have been forged around the globe and under fire," she said. "Much has been asked of you, but selfless service is a responsibility you have taken on enthusiastically.

"I am inspired by meeting you all here today , and I want to personally thank you for setting the example for others to follow."

During the ceremony both winners were awarded Army Commendation Medals by Marin and Command Sgt. Major Romeo Montez III, IMCOM Europe command sergeant major.

Because of mission requirements, Paschal will not be able to represent IMCOM Europe at the IMCOM-level competition. Staff Sgt. Jair Cranmore, from USAG Stuttgart, was selected to represent the command.

Cranmore and Sisk will represent IMCOM Europe at the IMCOM-level competition in San Antonio, Texas, May 2-7.
