SMDC's new chief technology officer officially promoted

REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- One of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command's Department of the Army civilians was promoted in conjunction with his new duties within the command.
Dr. Steve Pierce, formerly the director of SMDC's Decision Support Directorate, was promoted April 17 at the Von Braun III auditorium in conjunction with his new title as the command's chief technology officer, a senior level position.
Pierce entered military service upon his graduation from the U.S. Military Academy in 1977. He retired in 1997, and then spent several years as a defense contractor before joining SMDC in 2001 as a senior analyst with the command's Future Warfare Center. In 2002 he was promoted to a division chief position, and in 2008 he was promoted to the director of DSD. March 23, Pierce was appointed to the senior level and selected as SMDC's CTO.
Pierce was selected as the 2005 Association of the United States Army-Redstone Huntsville Chapter Civilian of the Year.
