I had the opportunity to speak with some of our Army's future leaders at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA. Cadets from 274 colleges and universities across America participated in twelve round table discussions which included topics such as Nuclear Proliferation; Terrorism and US. Foreign Policy in the Middle East. Communicating the leadership principles of General George Marshall--candor, commitment, courage, integrity and selflessness--are the reasons for which the George C. Marshall Army ROTC Award exists. Cadets who attend the seminar come away with a better knowledge of Marshall the man and the guiding principles which made him one of the Nation's greatest leaders.We place a great burden on our junior leaders and it is crucial that they embody the Army profession. These young men and women have committed themselves to something greater than the individual. I am proud of their accomplishments and commitment to serve. They are ARMY STRONG!
