SCHWEINFURT, Germany (April 10, 2014) -- The Department of the Army recently announced the winners of the 2013 MG Keith L. Ware Public Affairs Competition, and U.S. Army Garrison Schweinfurt earned "Honorable Mention" for best website/blog in the entire Army.

USAG Schweinfurt was eligible for three awards. The other two, not recognized, included Outstanding Initiative in New Media for its "Salute to Schweinfurt" campaign and Digital Communication Campaign, again for the "Salute to Schweinfurt" campaign. All three earned golds in the IMCOM-level competition last month.

The Office of the Chief of Public Affairs conducts the Maj. Gen. Keith L. Ware Public Affairs competition annually to recognize journalistic excellence among service members and Army civilian employees. A special panel of judges from the Department of Army selected the winners.

Last year, the Schweinfurt closure blog earned gold in both the IMCOM and Army-level Keith L. Ware competition

Garrison leadership and subject matter experts write for the award-winning blog. But the Schweinfurt team that built it and continues to groom it is the result of a communications concept begun in 2010 that brought together all of the garrison's communications experts. Dubbed the Fusion Cell, teammates have included Nathan Van Schaik, Elvira Gladwell, Tina MacDonald, Sid Harris, Leslie Brians, Michele Bradfield, Jessica Jacobs, Margaret Gotheridge, Charlie Stadtlander and Spc. Latoya Dallas.
